Just a quick reminder that RCN and RHC will be visiting the Eco Park on Thursday 25th October 2018. It’s a great opportunity for you to come on this trip with your child and engage in the outdoor environment with them. Please let your child’s class teacher know if you will be attending. It will be cold so wrap up warm and don’t forget your wellies!
The Reception Team
On Monday, Reception went on a fabulous trip to Twycross Zoo. It was a lovely sunny day, so all the animals were out to play! We saw lots of different monkeys, great, big gorillas, tall giraffes and enormous elephants. Our favourite animals were the gibbons and the penguins! Thank you to the parents who joined us. Take a look at what we saw!
The children in Reception at Starbank Road had a fantastic day learning all about culture in Mexico! The children wore colourful clothes, including lots of sombreros and stripes, and some girls wore beautiful dresses! We had fun making Mexican flags, dancing to Mexican Mariachi music and tasting some delicious nachos with guacamole and salsa!
Thank you to all parents for making such an effort with the children’s clothes. Have a look at what we got up to!
Last week, the Reception children were treated to a special performance from the fabulous Juggling Jim!
First, Juggling Jim performed a hilarious show displaying all of his circus tricks. He showed us how to juggle scarves, ride a unicycle and even let us and the teachers play the Pieface game!
Afterwards we were all shown how to perform some of his circus tricks during a workshop in the hall. We had a go at balancing on pedal-goes with our friends, which are much harder than they look! Then we tried spinning plates which were lots of fun.
A huge thank you to Juggling Jim for his time. We all had a wonderful afternoon!
This week Reception enjoyed their Writing Workshop at Starbank Road. We shared different writing techniques and showcased all the opportunities for writing in our environments. Thank you to all the parents for attending, and we hope you now have some useful ideas on how to support your children at home.
Below is a useful link to the Letters and Sounds website, which has fantastic free resources and games to help support your child’s reading and writing at home. Most children are now learning Phase 3 phonemes (sounds). If you have any questions at all please do come and speak to us!
