Over the last couple of weeks we have begun teaching the letter sounds from phase 2 phonics. The children are gaining confidence identifying the sounds ‘s’, ‘a’, ‘t’, ‘p’, ‘i’ and ‘n’. We are now beginning to use these sounds to make a variety of words the children can read e.g. sat, pin, tap, nap, pat etc.

Please encourage your child to look for these familiar sounds in the books they are reading. Can they find any objects around the house that start with these sounds? You could even practise the sounds and the actions using the video below!
